Grant
Creek Mining Company
is a Christ Centered business

Managed by Stephen and Sarah Fuller
Steve
has had the mining fever since he was 5 years old when his father
first introduced him to the tale of the Lost Adams Diggings. The
idea of finding gold nuggets the size of eggs captured Steve's sense
of adventure and he was hooked. His father taught him how to pan
for gold outside of Ouray, Colorado on the same stream where he
found his first flake of gold. By the time he was a teen Steve would
spend his weekends prospecting the dry desert washes in southwestern
New Mexico.
After
a 6-year stint in the Air Force, Steve's Dad introduced him to a
friend of his who owned claims on the Salmon River in Northern California.
He spent a summer as an apprentice learning how to dredge for gold.
At the end of the summer, in 1994, he was given the opportunity
to buy an interest in the claims known as the Grant Creek Mine.
He
opened his first jewelry account in a small store called Somes Bar
Store. Using a discarded beer flat and a piece of black felt from
Wal-Mart he set off to make his first jewelry display. He made two
locket type pendants and sold them both within the first week and
the Grant Creek Mining Company was born! Using the proceeds from
those sales to re-invest in jewelry settings the business grew to
what it is today.
By
the late 90's the price of gold was on its way down, Steve took
a desk job in Shemya, Alaska, which is how he got to the "Last
Frontier". Although panning for gold in Shemya was out of the
question, Steve took advantage of the his time there and designed
more pieces for co-workers and the business bloomed once more. He
received several requests for specialized pieces. When he had enjoyed
enough of the solitude he moved to Anchorage, and continued prospecting
whenever he could.
In
2001 He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. With guidance
from the Lord, the jewelry business seemed to grow at a rapid
pace. Then in 2005 he met Sarah and fell in love. Sarah and Steve
were married in march of 2007 and Today you can find their jewelry
in gift shops throughout Alaska. And now you can purchase their
original pieces online!
Steve and Sarah divide their family time
between serving the Lord, prospecting and mining gold, designing
and working on jewlery. They are blessed with 3 beautiful daughters,
Chantell, Hannah, and Jewel.
